OK…When do I practice?
This is a big question for those of us with full lives.
I don’t have a lot of time for structured practice. But the best times for that kind, for me, is either early in the morning or late at night. Early in the morning works best for me.
This practice time is 30 minutes to 60 minutes of time that I work on specific things.
But surprisingly you can do a lot more “unstructured” practice by just taking your harp with you and playing it during the downtimes.
Here are my best downtimes:
- Lunch time at work – spend 30 minutes of your lunch hour or maybe the whole time playing.
- While waiting at appointments – You can take your harp with you and play it (probably in the car) for 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. It adds up.
- Before going into work or after leaving work before going home – How bout taking 10 – 30 minutes playing there. Just pick out a song and play.
- While watching TV…During the commercials – No one wants to watch commercials. Why not play a little with your harp.
Some days I get 3 hours in just playing during the downtimes. Guess what, you no longer have downtimes if you have a harp.
Keep on Harpin yall…
